Hello there,

Can anyone help me?

I have a SIM900 and I am trying to establish a connection to a POP E-Mail Server.

When I send AT+CIPSTART="TCP","pop.server.com","110"

Most of the time the above works and it connects ok, however sometimes it does not

AT+CIPSTATUS shows that TCP is connecting but it never does

What I want to do is wait a reasonable time say 10 seconds and if it hasnt connected try again

what commands do I need to send to have another go at connecting and in what order

AT+CIPCLOSE maybe
AT+CIPSHUT maybe

Do i need to resend AT+CIICR and AT+CIFSR before retrying with AT+CIPSTART

Any advice welcome

Check whether you have got the IP using AT+CIFSR at first place.

Then for each command regarding the TCP connection, use AT+CIPSTATUS command to check the result of the previous AT command used and then analyse the output. This could help you to identify the issue.

Yes, pls give AT+CIPCLOSE and AT+CIPSHUT before starting next connection.
