Settings for NIOS II IDE software for communicating between hyperterminal and UART

I do a simple data communication between hyperterminal (from my laptop) and UART (Altera FPGA DE2 board) through serial RS232 port.

May I know what is the settings i need to do with NIOS II IDE software? I have tried several times using Hyperterminal to detect output from DE2 board through Nios II IDE software, but always get error message saying that the are no uart in the directories.

May I know I need to add what C/C++ code just for open the RS232 port??
