rf transistor cw and pulse

can i use cw transistor instead of pulse transistor?
for example i have 50dbm cw tr and i use it in pulse application with 10% duty cycle in the same power


can i use pulse tr instead of cw tr ?
for example i have 1400w pulse tr which works in 10% and i use it in cw app but it should give me only 140W . is it posseble?
 

Depends on Safe Operating Area of the Transistor.Since you don't exceed this area, of course you can use.
But the Performance may not be same as Pulsed Mode Operation.So there isn't any linear correlation between Pulsed Mode and CW Mode.

10x more output power (pulse vs CW) looks too much for me..

In a pulse condition not only the duty cycle is important, but the pulse duration also. For example you can get a 10% duty cycle with a short pulse but also with a long pulse.

Usually the ratio of powers (pulse vs CW) is done for dissipated power of the transistor, during the two conditions.
As an example take a look to the datasheet of the power transistor below ( dissipated power: 299W CW, 445W Pulsed)

Check for the change in temperature in your components during the pulse. It really depends if your pulse is in order of milliseconds or microseconds in some cases with high power. a pulse with %10 duty cycle and 1.5ms duration may seem like a pulse but can act like CW in terms of heat generation.
