Hi,
I am re-doing a PCB which has a PTH resonator on it. The resonator is CSTLS16M0X55-B0. I wish to replace it with the CL16M00000S022 (SMD resonator, 16MHz).
On the schem there are no extra capacitors or resistors placed between the resonator and the PIC16F818. The resonator is connected to pins 15 and 16 of the PIC16F818.
So do you think I can substitute in the surface mount 16MHz resonator as follows..?
CL16M00000S022

The page 34 of the PIC16F818 datasheet suggests using a series resistor between the ceramic resonator and the OSC2 pin of the PIC16F818. However, in the board I have here, the customer has no such resistor fitted and tells that they have had no problems.

Thanks, the CL16M00000S022 ceramic resonator looks to be symetrical, so putting it either way round would be ok?
