Hi all,
i have a question regarding routing. Is it possible for an intermediate router to identify which ack corresponds to which packet it forwarded previoulsy.

Thankin you in anticipation.

No, I do not think so. I think that the router forward the ACK without knowing any additional information because the router main functionality is in layer-3 and the ACKs are in layer-4.
Does that make sense?

Added after 1 minutes:

I mean that the sequence number and the ACK number are in the header of TCP which is in layer-4 that the router can not read.
