When Placement and routing is done, is it timing driven or not? Do PnR tools have timing engines?

If yes, then why do we extract parasitics and do timing analysis using them through a timing engine like Prime time?

Re: PnR question

Yes, it can be timing driving (but isn't always).

Extraction and use of PrimeTime is needed because the PnR timing engines aren't 100% accurate.

PnR question

You can put many constraints in PnR. Timing is one of them. Area could be another.
