What is the relationship between quantizer levels and signal to quantization noise ratio(SQNR)?

To increase quantizer levels we need to add more comparators, is this correct?

Hi,

This is detailed in the following paper:
PM Aziz, HV Sorensen and J. Van Der Spiegel, "An overview of sigma-delta
converters," IEEE Signal Processing Magazine, Vol.13, No.1, Jan. 1996

relationship between quantizer levels and signal to quantization noise ratio(SQNR):
incease the one bit quantizer level, the SNR will increase 6dB

More quantizer levels, more comparators of course, but it also depond on you circuit design too.[/quote]
