what's the good thing about SCL8.4 ?

Re: SCL

All other old demans like Avantid will begin unify starting 2003.12 with SCL 8.4.2. But 2003.12 is not stable, it crash on me many times, now I switched back to 2003.03.

That's true. there is no reason to upgrade

Is old license file (such as for SCL 1.2) able to be used for SCL 8.4 (or 8.4.2) ?

No, I tried it, BUT Does not run.

Re: SCL

new verison(0312 or aabove) is must be licensed by SCL 8.4,
does others too?

Re: SCL

i have tried running old license for scl 1.2 on scl 8.4 with the 2003.12 releases. no problem. however for 8.4.2, the answer is no. so i don't see any reason changing from 8.4 to 8.4.2

The newest version of the scl only support the eth, not ANY! The lic generated by the EFA can work !
