Hi,

I have a 3 years old Panasonic projector, but he original lamp is dead now.. I wan't to replace it, but the original lamp is so expensive as a new projector :cry:

The idea is to buy an other (not original) lamp with 250W, and replace it, az a DIY project :)or i can use more 1W LED's...

Have someone done such thing before me? (I hope so :) )

The original lamp can be removed from the mirror, it's just glued in the focus..

Can i use HID lamp's from a car headlight? they are cheap, and easy to find... The power is not 250W, but i use the device in a dark room, so hopefully it will be enough..

What can be the problem, with the original power supply for the lamp? How they work? I think, that wen i turn it on, the PS will produce high voltages to start the lamp, and after the voltage is stabilized to n*10V.. right?

when i use a lamp with less power, how can I reduce the power suppy's current? i think, not just with a power resistor :)

If someone knows a link/forum/project on the net, please tell me :)

thanx!
