Hello everyone,
I'm trying to make a simple battery powered system. One of my design requirements is to have the power switch, which switches ON the device when pressed. when released, the device is still ON. When pressed again, the device turns off. Ideally I'm visualizing a power button of say a modern day GPS. I looked into various cmos latch circuits such as RS latch; however, they require set and reset buttons. I want to have a single power button.

I'm thinking to latch the battery voltage into the system circuits with the latch toggling with each push. However, I can't find a simple transistor-level circuits for this. Is there anything such as a toggle-latch ?.
Anybody with some idea please help.

Thank You.

Is there any reason you can't use a simple on/off pushbutton? It sounds to me like you are making this more complicated than it needs to be.
