wireless sensor networks

hi friends..
i am starting a project on power conservation in wireless sensor networks..... i have planned to do the simulation using matlab..... the problem is i do not know how to create a network..... sorry to ask such a basic question... but i am new to matlab.... can anyone help... thanks in advance
