node A is the node across 5 ohm resister
determine the potential of node A with respect to ground
 

Is this supposed to be a trick question or is it mis-drawn? The 5 ohm resistor is directly across the 5V battery so its voltage is clear. The rest of the circuitry is irrelevant.
