would u please explain the "trickle Charge Current" ?
I am not familiar with this term. The data that I provided was written on the battery. If u need any furter data,,then i can go to the website and get the data for u.

microcontroller based 3 stage battery charger

Hi All,

A simple connection diagram is shown in the figure.

Can anybody suggest an idea to implement a zero crosing detector in software for this scheme. And also I need to sense the AC mains voltage level to switch from AC mains to BATT in case of undervoltage or overvoltage conditions. I prefer C language.

Thanks and Regards,
Itp

The picture can not see.
Repost your schematic.

monitor ac power with a pic16

Hi all,

I request your suggestions on following points on the design of UPS firmware.
1. A failsafe method to adopt to find the cause of power failure,
( I think this is one of the complex task to be implemented)
2. Detection of unbalanced load

3. Synchronized change over from mains to UPS or back.

Thanks and regards
Itp

microcontroller in ups

I had seen a design for UPS quiet some time back. It was prob. in russian???. Just dont know. But at that tme i had worked on the design based on 16f84. The code and schematic seems ok. I think the power section can easily be modified for using mosfets. The iR 70NO6 and IRFZ44 are good candidates. So have a look into this design. It is simple and good for low power levels. Upto 1KVA with Power transformer design, this is OK.

Dont ask me where i found it. It was "once upon a time". Also if you need any help in power stage design, i will be glad to help.

Hi Masud,
Where is the schematics for the board you have posted.

i have only upload pcb & parts list for control card . my design in plain paper. so it need to scan.

To Tornado,
Go to the Panasonic website, and you will find out Panasonic SLA battery datasheets as well as charging/discharging instructions, there are definitions for Cycle charge, Trickle charge, Floating charge in them either.

Cycle charge: use for the case of cars, motocycles, ... for example. The charging voltage is limited about 2.4 - 2.5 V per cell, it means that about 14.4 to 15V for the 12V battery.

Trickle and Floating charges use for standby purpose, for example UPS. They use the same voltage of 2.25 - 2.3 V per cell, equivalent to 13.5 - 13.8 V for the 12V batteries.

Trickle and Floating charges are different from each other as Trickle word used when standby but battery is disconnected from load, and only connected when power fails. Floating word used when battery is permanent connected to the load.
