rfid reader design

Hi,
I'm a student and I want to design a passive UHF RFID reader but I don't know anything about UHF RFID reader. I need some advices. Where should I start?

Well, there are some interesting reader IC's available, e.g. look out for Impinj Indy R1000 or at IDS Microchip. Using such a chip in connection with a simple microcontroller, antenna(s) and some other usual stuff will probably be the easiest way to build up an UHF reader. The manufacturers of the chips usually also offer development boards for their reader-IC's.

To get the RFID basics though I'd recommend this book: https://www.amazon.com/RF-RFID-Pass...=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1243676311&sr=1-1
