Hi guys,

I want to implement over the air firmware update for microcontroller.
I have PIC mcu connected to GM862 gsm module, and I want to change mcu's firmware via GSM data call.

The problem is, I can't estabish the data call.

First I have set the data mode: AT+FCLASS=0

then AT+CBST=7,0,1 - 9600kpbs, Non transparent mode

ATD123456789 - call the number

I got the "NO CARRIER" answer

What am I doing wrong? Do I need a special SIM card?
Thanks

Yes, special SIM card is needed, which is available from provider upon request.
That card has 2 separate numbers- one for FAX and the other for data transfer.
Regular SIM card does not support data call.

I was wrong. Special SIM card is not needed. I just have to send request to the provider to activate data call service.
On prepaid SIM cards, this service is already activated.

I'm wondering. But it's you're PIC that requests a firmware update. Or an third item that tries to update the PIC's firmware. In that case you have a script in telit's module right?

No, the pic is not requesting the update.
The administrator request fw update. Device detects incoming phone call number and enters fw update mode.
