Need help on starting off with Board Support Package (BSP)

I wanted to get started with Board support package development for one of freescale boards..
Before that, I wanted to know, which are the good refernece books to get started with in general, to know about board architecture( in general )
any kind of text books/presentations/documents would be of great help
