Microcontroller based digital control

Hello everyone,
I am assigned to work on this micro-controller based control of the process. I am given the transfer function and the process variables values. I started on programming using C language, based on the PID values. but i couldn't understand how to implement the process transfer function in micro-controller. Is the PID algorithm alone is enough to perform the necessary control over the process.
