I have 8K BPSK modulated signal.I have Maximum liklihood decoder in MATLAB code.I need to How can I convert my modulated signal to a form that is useable/acceptable for Maximum liklihood decoder in MATLAB for AWGN channel.

I need to know Maximum liklihood decoder for 8khz carrier modulated signal.
rand(N
e.g x1 is modulated signal x1=exp(j*2*pi*fc)
r=x1+n1 ;received signal then ML decoding is in general form is as follows

distance=abs((r-reference)^2) .I dont know whether I can apply ML decoding or not

I shall be very grateful to all
Regards
