I want to design a LOW COST WIRELESS Sensor network to detect vehicle(Metal) In 1.Sq.km.area and it should be expandable without changing any code simply by adding nodes... like a ADHoc network...

Any suggestions:
1> Hardware
2> RF Link
3> routing algorithms

(I know this thread is dead for some time, just *HAD* to respond)

I did something that might be really interesting for you: build a wireless sensor network which supports 4 modules in a 300 meter range. With this system, you would be able to do exactly what you are describing: "measure things at a long range".

Check the link in my signature for the resulting system description.

your system is very intersting..which wireless modules you have used...
do you sell this system in india too

Hello,

The basic RF modules are RFM12 modules. If you are interested, contact me through the email in my profile or the contact form at the website. Yes, I sell around the world! Just have to check shipping costs.
