Hi, i want to reduce my 9 volt battery to 5 volts without affecting the current that much. they said that i should use a voltage regulator, but i dont know what are the other parts needed to achieve my desired voltage.. could anyone post a schematic here? please..

this is just for our school fair..

Did you check the datasheet first ? bcoz there are some application examples (schematic) in it.

Hope this helped you.

This might help you.. Please read datasheet. You can find more information.
LM7805 is a +5V fixed voltage regulator can deliver the output current upto 1.5A .
See section Application information in datasheet for the selection of capacitors.
