LM317 output question

Sorry i lied about vout for the sake of simplicity. Vout should be 2.5V 1.5A.

Surpassing my wildest dreams. Never thought that LM317 would survive > 1A reverse current during negative input voltage cycle.
 

I think the LM317 is destroyed by the reverse current and is shorted. Then it is a piece of wire that lights 12V light bulbs.
