Linear variable attenuator for DC signal

Hi - I'd like to find a circuit that will divide an input signal based on a control signal. I need the operation to be linear. A transfer function like this would be ideal:

Vout = (Vin / Vgain) * 1 V

Any suggestions for how to do this?
