coupling coefficient Mi,i+1 = Ji,i+1 / √(bi * bi+1). b are the susceptence slope of the resonator. b = dB/dω. U may need a better understanding of resonator and its impedence at resonance to better understand the susceptence slope.
Actually u can get all the J values and M values from the lowpass prototype g values. However, J will need susceptence slope b. Some of them can be calculated easily, others are tough. If you wanna go by coupling coefficient and external Q factors, u don't need J at all. U can refer to Lancaster's book, Microstrip filters for RF/Microwave engineering chapter 5. There are detailed explanation.
