transform

:?:
i need to transform 230v ac to 5v AC. i don't want to use a normal transformer cause it is weighty and costly is there any other safe solution? please ans me as soon as possible and if possible give the schematics.

Safe - No.

Resistors, but they give no isolation, the voltage will vary with the current being drawn and they will probably get very hot.

Capacitor, may work but again no isolation and regulation may be poor with a likelyhood of noise on the supply as well.

Brian.
