How to write a code for ATmega32 to communicate with SD or MMC card

hi everybody
I write a code in Atmega32 for communication with MMC card
but when connect a SD card< it has error.It has two coomand more for commiunicat with SD card, how can I know automatic in Micro wich type card connect to (SD or MMC) so I communicat with it by its corect codes
