HI
I have a site master S331D ANRITSU; i want to measure loss cable of RF 7/8 cable
1- Can i do measure with the antenna connected to other end of the cable. I have read in many topics about "short" wht's that mean
Please any can help me Thanks

Cable loss can't be measured with antenna connected, you would be only able to determine serious discontinuities or faults.

Simply consult the Anritsu literature, it clarifies, that a short in place of the antenna is the intended method for loss measurement:

Cable Loss Sweep
A measurement made when a short is connected at the end of the transmission line. This condition allows analysis of the signal loss through the transmission line and identifies the problems in the system. High insertion loss in the feed line or jumpers can contribute to poor system performance and loss of coverage.

I don't know about your RF engineering background, but you should be able to figure out the principle of the intended measurement from literature.

Anritsu has an application note explaining the fundamentals: Insertion Loss Measurement Methods Application Note **broken link removed**
