how to make a divider which takes input via keypad decode it perform division and display the result.

Without using mcu and any sort of interfacing..

all from gates,adders,encoder,multiplexer..

Thanks in Advance

Re: Divider

Without mcu it will be very hard to read keyboard, and display the result. Lots of logics. The rest is not very hard...

yes i knew that .... and that's b/c i post it here ......

Is this a student project for learning digital design?
Are you inputting and outputting decimal integers, fractions, hex, or what?
How many digits input and output?
What type of hardware chips are you allowed to use?
Wiring up TTL/CMOS chips could be torture. How about implementing your logic in an FPGA, using Verilog or VHDL?

yes,it is...

decimal number no fraction just deciamal...

How many digits input and output?
min 8 bit input ,so there will be max. 17 bit output

What type of hardware chips are you allowed to use?
just gates, adders, decoder etc all what you have in digital deisign

no not allowed

Re: Divider

As far as keypad decoding is concerned, i think it is nearly impossible without using microcontroller....
U can find divider algorithms in digital design books and implement it.... Refer "HDL Chip Design" By Douglas Smith.....
for the display make tables solve maps... not easy but possible.....

Sir,u r welcome .... i was searching on edaboard when i saw this post thought might be helpful..... so u have solved yr problem...isn't it? would u like to share with us what have u done for the keypad and display.... i m interested in it since i think it's impossible....
waiting for yr reply

so far it is pending still searching for the right way....
as far as divider is concerned i used an algorithm ....
if you are intrested then tell me it will b my pleasure to tell you...
n e wayz thanks for your concern..

Re: Divider

you shoud concern with microcontroller
