Hi,

I purchased a crystal oscillator and I want to check it as a component.I want to know how to check the output of a crystal oscillator is whether AC coupled or DC coupled??

Plz clarify my doubt.

thanks in advance
Satya

Check the average voltage value of the running oscillator ..
If this value is around “0” it would indicate AC-coupled output, if the value is around ½ Vcc the output would be DC-coupled ..

You can easily do it with an oscilloscope, but it also can be checked out with a simple voltmeter (just attach a dummy load between the output and GND) ..

Thank you very much.

Is it possible to chech this without switching on the oscillator??

regards

- Check the datasheet.
- Use an ohmmeter.
Actually I'm not aware of any standard clock oscillators to utilize AC coupling. What makes you think it could be used with your part?
