i want to drive 12 v 3 a dc on/off via a avr micro?

how could that be done?? any schematic ??

You can use a power mosfet like... IRFZ44 and a optoisolator for isolation.

do you have any schematic on that??

i have only one atmega32 and i'm afraid to blow it it too much current is requested from it.. so i want to be sure that it'll work ....

i have already a moc3040,could that be able to drive that mosfet??

maxer

MOC3040 is I triac optically isolated triac driver....it can't drive mosfet.

yes i know initially i used it for driving a normal fridge on 220v

but now i want to control a peltier in dc 12v 3amps.

i have seen that n-channel mosfets are used...i would like to know whether exists any h-bridge that is piloted directly bu an AVR micro.
