How to connect MAX485 IC to system 485 port?

hi every one ,
i want to verify the rs485 protocol between the PC and max 485 IC, in my PC i am having 485 port but i dont know how to connect max485 IC to that port, can any one please tell me how to connect max 485 to system 485 port, my system mother board is MB 865, thanks in advance.

Which equipment you want to communicate, its Protocol?

So on the PC (Master) side you have signals A, B and ofcouse GND, on the slave side you should also have A, B and GND. So you need two wires with shield for GND.
This is half duplex rs485.
