mac and phy chip

HI all,

If we have an mac chip and an physical chip in the same board how the connection between them will be achieved? will we need to use rj45 connector?

kindly guide and suggest whether it can be done or not.

Thanks
Shiva.

mac and phy chip

You may want to consult either ethernet related IEEE standards or manufacturer datasheets. MAC to PHY connection is provided by
the "media independant" or "reduce media independant" parallel interface, RJ45 for PHY to network attachment with most copper media based standards.
