How to calculate the size of capacitors without drawing layout?

how can we calculate the size of Capacitors, Mosfets and Resistors in layout without drawing layout?
because I just want to compare the size of my new circuit.
 

Well, surface mount capacitors and resistors have standard
sizes and the datasheet (or distributor selection widget) ought
to tell you that (e.g. 0608 form factor is 6x8mm). The size
follows C and V for capacitors (roughly), power rating for the
chip resistors.


Similarly the packages for power FETs are pretty standardized
(SMD0.5, SMD1, ..., TO-220, TO-257, various surface mount
slug and tab styles in plastic).

I expect you could make yourself an Excel' sheet pretty
quick.

You might also find some of the PCB layout tools will
give you a rough estimate of area, from BOM or schematic.

thanks for your answer, unfortunately, I cannot understand exactly, how can i calculate the size of capacitors without drawing layout.
 

just lay them out, or use cut-outs of the space used on the board
 

sorry but that makes no sense to me - do you mean the distance from lead to lead?

I mean when we draw the capacitors, mosfets and resistors, how mach space each capacitor, resistor and mosfet need? without drawing the layout?
 

If this is an IC problem, then your answers lie in the
PDK documentation for the particular foundry flow
of interest. Rules aplenty and the info you need like
fF/um2 for caps and ohms/square for resistors, the
design driven choices like resistor W and FET W/L
are yours to express, and then figure based on rules.
Straightforward and tedious, spreadsheet type work
but this is your alternative to just getting on with
rough layout.

I'd guess that you have neither tools nor a target
foundry PDK, otherwise you'd just set about floor
planning in the environment you'd use to finish the
job.

like I said before, you can use the actual parts and lay them out on the board - organized roughly how they are to be connected

or

use paper cut-outs of the same dimensions and lay them out


should be very easy
