how to calculate "dictionary variables" of a signal

in this link...they create the dictionary variables of voice by filtering...i tried to create it...but my dictionary variables are not similar of that

i tried in matlab in following way...


[x,fs,n]=wavread('voice.wav')
[b a]=butter(4,wn,'bandpass') //wn cutoff freq ratio
y=filter(b,a,x)

y is the output of filter which is required as it is written on this link...but this is not same value...please help me...please
