thanks, but i need 8-bit counter with carry and borrow...Equivalent to IC 74LS193.
can anybody tell me how to write carry and borrow in VHDL

I think the circuit diagram is given in the data sheet itself.You can simply code it in VHDL seeing the circuit diagram.
And about the borrow and carry part, are you planning to have a bigger counter using a cascaded connection between these counters?

I need 8- bit up/down counter which has a carry out and borrow out....
I am confussed how to write carry and borrow in my code.
