help in understanding FPGA design process

hello everyone.

can someone recommend to me some books that would be useful to start designing using FPGA as i am hobbyist trying to understand FPGA and ASIC design process.

things i would like to know are like clock rate or ADC(how to decide which freq to use on a design),which memory to use,the purpose of FIFO or CDC(clock domain crossing),steps in designing ASICs,interfacing FPGA with I/O hardware(keyboard and VGA),understanding big digital circuit like MCU.Hope someone can help me finding these books or references.

On clocks: modern FPGAs have clock multipliers, so you can use a board with a fixed frequency, say 25MHz, and generate the higher/lower internal frequencies you need.
