Could anyone tell me what type and what bits adc are commonly used ,and the reason? if i want to design such a adc , could you recommend me some reference?Thanks a lot!

Hi,

For 2 bits output, the ADC gives the sign bit and the second bit is MAG bit whch is made high for 30% of the time. You may refer pless, Philsar (formerly) chip specifications for this.

For higher number of bits there seems no clear definition. TI uses 4 bits. But the quantization levels are not clearly defined with respect to others. So it is normally defeined with respect to the baseband processing.
