ic5141 install
i have succeeded in installing IC5141 USR5 on RHEL 5.1 and Scientific Linux in 64 bit mode from the original cd media without any modification to the installation script of ic5141.
this is how i have done. it is very lengthy and hence i am calling it dummy's installation guide. the reapply or inputs are in bold.
hock
1) Install rhel 5.1 or Scientific Linux 5.1 (64 bit preferred)
2) Extract ic5141 USR5 in /tmp/IC5141USR5_lnx86.Update/CDROM1 to CDROM4
3) Extract ic5141 BASE in /tmp/IC5141_lnx86.Base/CDROM1 to CDROM3
4) Install ncompress-4.2.4-33.i386.rpm by using command "rpm -ivh ncompress-4.2.4-33.i386.rpm"
5) Install tar-1.13.25-2U80_1cl.i386.rpm by using command "rpm -Uvh --oldpackage tar-1.13.25-
2U80_1cl.i386.rpm"
6) Open a c shell command terminal in /tmp/IC5141USR5_lnx86.Update
7) Set posix compliance by typing "export _POSIX2_VERSION='199209'" in the above terminal
Cool Type "CDROM1/SETUP.SH" to start installation
9) Specify installation path as "/opt/cadence/ic5141". when asked say "Y" for creating the destination
folders
You will get following message screen

Warning: Software administration should not be done as root
because it could cause file permissions problems while
extracting software
