Will the kind of wire (single or multi stranded) used to transmit signal to a speaker (a simple speaker out of a ttoy car) affect the quality of sound?
somewhat .It depends on your wire resistance and length and the material from which the wire was made and also the environment . but generally in any kind of signal transmitting such as audio and etc if you use twisted pair wire any noise and other unwanted signals that maybe it picks up will be suppressed.
If the wires connecting the speaker to a modern solid-state amplifier exceed a few ohms then the speaker will not be well-damped by the very low output impedance of the amplifier (0.04 ohms or less) then it will sound boomy like a bongo drum at its resonant frequencies.
I can promise you that using any kind of wire will sound equally horrible through a toy car speaker. In high quaility loudspeaker systems the current through the wires can be quite large so keeping it's resistance as low as possible will prevent resistive losses and as Audioguru pointed out will improve damping. For reference, damping is an indication of how well the amplifier output and loudspeaker cone work in unison. In a poorly damped system the cone will over-travel when moved and the tone quality will have peaks in it which make some sounds seem louder than others.
