Does IPTV either broadcasts or transmits?

IPTV general Question

Hi

Just curious to know IPTV either broadcasts or transmits ?

Hi,

Not sure exactly what you're looking for here but IPTV is very broad. In a simplistic term, it means transmitting digital video signal over IP network and most of these networks tend to be the last mile technology such as xDSL/BPON/EPON/GPON/etc.

Neither. It multicasts using IP multicasting. Each Stream of Data (TV Channel etc) are sent to a multicast address. The receiver that wants to watch a particular channel accepts data for the corresponding multicast address using IGMP, IIRC, and if it has the proper decryption keys then the channel can be viewed. Check wikipedia for more information.
