there should be a sold ( Synopsys OnLine Documentation) in your installation dir of the tool go through it. Search the threads there are many discussions on it . If you search the net you should be able to get dc_tut.pdf doc . this doc is a decent one too ..

A book that might help you is:
Advanced ASIC Chip Synthesis Using Synopsys Design Compiler Physical Compiler and PrimeTime. You can download it from the forum. It has the basic commands to use for sythesis with Design compiler.
