Digital trimming using POT or other instead of Push Buttons

Please let me know that there is anything available that can be use in place of push button(for setting).

I built a ammeter using ATmega16 @8MHz int.osc , AVR Studio 4 and need to set ampere
by using any rotating thing like POT or other instead of Push Buttons.

NOTE: All Settings of ampere should be digital.
 

You may use rotary switch
or rotary encoder.
 

I have used a AB DIGITAL ENCORDER which gives a QEI encoded output for a similar application
as the encoder is turned it scrolls thru a menu on an LCD ( because the encoder gives direction iit is simple to scroll up or down) and a press of the encoder selects the required option
