Hi,

I have a question regarding a mixed signal PCB design.

I have a board with partitioned ground planes (AGND and DGND) but there is an analog IC that requires a digital control signal from the CPU that cannot be physically positioned on or near the analog/digital border. So basically I have to route a digital signal line across the analog region!

So I'm wondering what the best way to approach this is.. Should the IC be connected to AGND but keep a path for return current that is clear of the ADC and other analog components, or should it be connected to DGND via a seperate ground track that shoots out through the analog region.

Any input on this topic would be much appreciated.

Cheers

Sam
