Hi,
We have streetlights all over the city.
We want the ones which are OFF due to a fault to transmit this back to base. (or the ones which are mistakenly ON during daytime to transmit that back to base).
However, we believe that to have a mobile phone transceiver in each streetlight would be very expensive, and not so good, because 2.4GHz will suffer per_distance attenuation more than lower frequencies. (given a big enough antenna). Also, lower frequencies “go through walls” better.
As such, we want to have cheap_but_long_lasting transceiver in each streetlight. These will all transmit to a single “hub”. The hub will transmit into the standard country comms network, so that the user can log in and red all the fault data.
What transceiver would you recommend for each streetlight?
(If the transceiver could be driven/interfaced with Arduino then that makes it even better.)
