Hello, Can anybody help me to understand how to get channel (mathematical derivation) gain of AWGN channel. I want to use the gain of every channel in maximal ratio combining in multiple antenna system. I can calculate the gain in Rayleigh fading channel but i can not understand how to get gain in AWGN channel. Thanks in advance :)

in maximal ratio combining (MRC), the post-processing SNR (after combining the gains of the antennas) is
pp_SNR = ||h||^2*SNR
where
||h||^2 = sum(|h_i|^2)
since in AWGN the channel gain |h| of each antenna is 1, then you get
pp_SNR = L*SNR
where L is the number of the antennas combined in MRC (so for two antennas you get 3 dB of additional power gain).

i hope it answers your question.
