The bandwidth for UMTS is 5 MHz but i was just wondering if the carrier is always spaced @ centre of 5MHz block?

& what is the importance of channel raster in UMTS (& GSM)

In GSM, bandwidth is 200khz and it uses TDMA technology (frequency and timeslot) and In UMTS, bandwidth is 5Mz and it used WCDMA (Scrambling code and Pilot code)
