Hi Guys,

I am designing an UPS and need help in deciding which DC DC converter to choose. The system must supply 1000W/1500VA from a 150AH 12V lead acid battery. My initial thoughts were to use a push pull converter but now I am leaning more towards a Half-Bridge. My main concern with the Half-Bridge are the capacitors. The system has to be cheap so cant afford expensive capacitors. We are looking at current close 100A at 100KHZ.

My question is, can relatively cheap capacitors (I know they have to be film and not electrolytic) be used in this converter? If not, is a push pull suitable for 1000W and what other alternatives are there?

Thanks
