Can mosfet driver supply continuous current of 2Amps?

Hello

I am using a MOSFET driver circuit to supply power from one section to another section in my design.
I need to pass 2Amps current from one section to another section in my design.
I have selected SI2301 (p-channel mosfet) and SI2302 (n-channel mosfet).
My application is a continuous running application.

For how long can the MOSFET driver circuit supply a continuous current of 2 Amps?

Where is the output? Why the 1K resistor on the gate? (that will slow things down).

Short answer: it can supply 2 amps as long as your MOSFET doesn’t overheat.

Some of them will get too hot in summer. They will be fine when outdoors in winter.
Do not use parts near their maximum allowed limits.

Hi,

When I hear "mosfet driver", then I think about IR21110 or something similar.
That means an IC that "drives" the gate of a MOSFET for the MOSFET to ON/OFF.

But here is no such driver.
For sure one can say the N-Ch is the driver for the P-Ch Mosfet.
But why use the N-Ch at all? just drive the P-Ch Mosfet directly from the 5V_SW signal. (inverted)

What the P-Ch Mosfet does is called "High side power switch".
There are dedicated "High side power switches" ... the benefit is that they include some protection features like "overcurrent protection". Just do a search .. and a bit of datasheet reading.

And as Barry mentioned: The SI2301 will do it.
With it´s 120mOhms ON resistance it generates a 250mV voltage drop and 0.5W of heat. It surely gets pretty hot.
I´d rather choose one with less R_DS_ON.
