Can I replace LM1085 with LM317?

Can I replace lm1085 with lm 317 , please ?

Just keep in mind that the LM1085 is rated for 3A, the LM317 can "only" deliver <1.5A ..
For currents above 1.5A (and below 3A) there is a drop-in replacement, namely the LM350 ..
