New to DSP

I am DSP newbie.
I am wondering if DSP can detect signal frequence. for example I have signal 5k or 20K with noise, can DSP distinguish who is who, and apply corresponding filter to it? If it can, how to implement? thanks.

Re: New to DSP

if you are proccesing your signal in the frequency domain, yes, it is imposible to distinguish the signal from noise if they are simultaneusly exist at the same frequency.

Hey, DSP is not that intelligent to seperate particular signal.
Its the programmer who know abt the nature of the input signal plus noise. so he'll program the DSP to filter the required output. So first you sholud know for what type of input you r going to implement.
you know, DSP is just a dumb processor. it does whatever we program it for.
