Hi !

i have P4 PC having corrupted SATA HDD and bootable USB stick

can i use this bootable usb pendrive for install xp on my PC

and also want to know how to get repair corrupted SATA HDD or data back from HDD

thanks !! :)

As far as I can tell, the Installer DVD looks for a hard drive (the C drive) to format and install Windows. Microsoft appears intent on preventing us from doing anything different.

I once tried to install Windows on an external USB hard drive. It did not succeed. The installer recognized the drive, and started the install, then froze. It may have cancelled because the handshaking response was not quick enough.

You may have better luck with a USB stick.

If not, you may end up needing an emergency boot CD.

Or, purchase a second SATA HD, put it in your computer, and install Windows on that disk.

thanks for your kind reply,
how can i recover my data from corrupted HDD

I have needed to do the same thing when my laptop no longer booted in XP.

In the end I purchased a new HD, and an external USB HD enclosure. (Also available in one unit.)

I removed the old HD from the computer. I put it in the external enclosure.

I put the new HD in the computer. I kept the old HD disconnected from the computer.

I installed Windows on the new internal HD.

I transferred my data from the external drive to the internal HD.

Since then I use the external drive for backup. I have a few external drives.

Does your computer have an extra internal HD bay? Then use that instead of an external enclosure.

I have installed Windows 7 to SONY 64GB flash disk and it worked

If you have image file of Windows or any Operating system them do as i mention.
1)Install winRAR.
2)Open image file with winRAR.
3)Plug your usb drive and format it.
4)Click Extract to and select your usb drive as your destination path.

I always use this method to install.
All os works with the same idea.
